Empathy School

regenerative rice project

In collaboration with Astungkara Way—a Bali-based NGO committed to regenerative farming and sustainable agriculture—aims to revolutionize local farming practices. By introducing techniques that restore soil health, enhance food resilience, increase farmers’ income, and reduce air and water pollution by eliminating rice straw burning, this initiative embodies our commitment to sustainability.

The project took shape after four years of negotiation and trust-building with the local banjar and other institutions. Our founder, Ms. Echo, is deeply committed to this initiative, which aligns with our school’s values of nurturing a deep connection with nature in our students. Pak Nyoman, our first brave pilot farmer, has led the way in this exploration. Our goal is to offer assistance and training to more farmers like him, restoring the quality and dignity of cultivating good food while healing the land. This partnership marks a significant step toward transforming our neighborhood into a sustainable community.

Empathy Skill-Share

Empathy School was founded to be a global teaching and learning lab, where the pursuit of knowledge and the passion for positive change intersect. Our Skill-Share event is a testament to this mission, serving as a vibrant and free gathering designed to inspire and empower educators, trainers, and education practitioners. This event brings together experts and trainers from diverse fields, united by a commitment to education and sustainability.

about empathy school

Participants engage in transformative workshops that delve into Education for Sustainability (EfS), Non-Violent Communication (NVC), and innovative strategies to address global challenges within the classroom. Through these shared experiences, educators not only enhance their skills but also contribute to the collective effort to reshape the future of education. To date, we've supported over 400 teachers across Bali through these trainings. Your support can ignite this growing movement, fueling the fire of change and empowering educators to create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Local After-School

Making quality education accessible has always been a core belief at Empathy School. Alongside our teacher trainings, which we see as one of the most impactful ways to contribute, we've launched another initiative to further this mission: the "Learning English with Anak Banjar" program. This community-centered after-school initiative brings the joy of learning English and sustainability to Balinese children in our local banjar (community unit).

Designed to make language learning both fun and comprehensive, this program ensures that children from our surrounding communities not only acquire English language skills but also engage in social-emotional learning and sustainability education. By blending playful, engaging methods with effective teaching strategies, we aim to empower the next generation with the linguistic tools and knowledge they need to thrive in a globalized world.
